REFLECTION

Experience:
During this semester, I gained valuable knowledge about video and sound production through this module. I’ve always been interested in video editing, so although I faced some challenges, I found the process enjoyable. The first project was a dubbing task, which excited me since I had experience dubbing my favorite movies. This time, we had to add all audio elements ourselves, which was a bit tedious but fun. We also explored sound shaping in Adobe Audition, where I followed Mr. Martin’s guidance to create four different voice effects — something I had always been curious about in film sound design. In Project 2, we worked as a team to shoot a trailer in the studio, which helped me understand the effort and collaboration needed in film production. For the final project, my partner and I independently planned, filmed, and edited a short video with at least two visual effects. Although it was technically challenging, the final result made all the hard work worth it.

Observation:
I observed that preparation before shooting is extremely important. Every shot needs to be carefully planned, including how it should be filmed and whether each scene connects smoothly to the next. Teamwork is also crucial, as every detail can affect the final outcome of the video. During the editing process, I realized the importance of sound effects. If they are not chosen appropriately, they can distract the audience and break immersion. In addition, color grading and color correction play a vital role, as they influence the overall style and the expression of the video's theme.

Findings:
I found that video editing is not easy at all. Throughout this semester, I learned many editing techniques, but I’m still not very familiar with the editing functions in Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. I need to practice and use them more, and I hope to become proficient in using editing software to handle various types of videos in the future.
