REFLECTION

Experience
My first semester studying Typography at BDCM has been both challenging and rewarding. Since this was my first experience with Typography, I quickly realized that it was far more demanding than I had anticipated. It required careful attention to many seemingly simple yet intricate details. However, despite the process of constant revisions feeling tedious and frustrating at times, each improvement, guided by Ms. Vitiyaa's feedback, brought a strong sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. Among all the assignments, I found Task 3 to be the most engaging. This task provided an opportunity to design my own font based on my ideas and creativity, which I then applied to a poster. Seeing my custom designed font featured in the final poster was incredibly rewarding and gave me a real sense of achievement. Moreover, Ms. Vitiyaa's patience and constructive feedback throughout the semester were invaluable. Their guidance not only helped me refine my work but also inspired me to approach design with greater thought and precision. As a result, I was able to overcome challenges and improve my overall skills. In conclusion, this semester has been a highly enriching learning experience. It has deepened my understanding of Typography and strengthened my design abilities. Moving forward, I am excited to build on these foundations and aim to create even better work in the future.

Observations
Throughout the 14-week learning module, I have developed a greater focus on detail and creativity. I’ve also become more sensitive to observing designs in everyday life, analyzing why they are designed a certain way, what their meaning is, and what I can learn from them. I’ve gained valuable knowledge, including type expression, text formatting, type construction, design layout, and the importance of the golden ratio. These skills have made me more proficient in using Illustrator and InDesign.

Findings
I've found that design is not just about creativity, but also about ensuring the audience has a good reading experience. This includes factors like spacing between paragraphs, using different fonts and sizes for various sections, and how the text is arranged. Whatever you design, it's important to be patient and pay attention to the details.
