Task 3: Illustrated Typography Poster (20%)
INSTRUCTIONS
CLASS EXERCISE
In class, Mr. Hafiz taught us how to use the Intertwine tool in
Illustrator to work with text and add gradients to it. Additionally, he
showed us how to apply 3D effects and textures to text.

Next, Sir asked us to use the Intertwine tool to experiment with our own
names as the base. We also learned how to add gradients to leaves to
create more depth.

Poster Inspirations / references:
These works have given me a lot of inspiration. I really like the
expression of paint-like printing styles.

PRODUCTION PROCESS:
First, I selected a font from Google Fonts that is similar to this
paint print style. After importing it into Adobe Illustrator, I used
the Image Trace feature with a high fidelity photo setting and then
ungrouped it. I used the Magic Wand tool to remove the blank
background, resulting in the brush effect. After that, I typed out the
words I needed in different colors then selected them in the brush
panel, achieving the font effect.

Final poster:
TITLE: Everyone has their own wings
Description:
I took the background of this picture at school, and the quote of the
day is "Impossible is I am possible." This quote represents the idea
that everyone has the potential to transform, much like a butterfly
emerging from its cocoon. Some of us may not have fully broken free from
our own personal struggles or limitations yet, but the message is clear:
we all possess the ability to grow, change, and discover infinite
possibilities within ourselves. Just as a butterfly starts as a
caterpillar and goes through a process of growth and change, we too have
the capacity to evolve, overcome challenges, and reach our fullest
potential. The quote reminds us that nothing is truly impossible as long
as we believe in our own power to transform.
When designing the poster, I used a paint print font that I really like
because I often see this style of print on graffiti walls and blank
walls. On these walls, people freely express their thoughts and ideas
through spontaneous drawings and words. I believe that the quote
"Impossible is I am possible" would fit perfectly in this kind of space,
just like on a graffiti wall, where it encourages and inspires people to
be brave and move forward.
REFLECTION
Experience
This project has been quite challenging for me because it is a combination
of two modules – IVN and DPI. However, through this task, I was able to
explore and try many new tools and effects that I had never used before. I
even searched online for tutorials on how to create the font I wanted. I’m
really glad that sir taught us new tools that we could use and apply to the
poster. The process was very fun, and the results often amazed me. I’m
grateful for Mr. Hafiz's help in adding content and showing me how to improve my work.
Observations & Findings
I understand that creating a poster involves not only having images that
convey the designer's intended message but also ensuring the font complements
it. In addition, it is very important for a poster to have a sense of depth.
