LECTURES
Lecture 9-DIGITAL SURREALISM
·Realism - Takes subject matters of the ordinary and common world which we call "reality." It almost always takes a non-exotic and non-extraordinary subject matter and theme. There is no need to think outside of the box, as that is not "real."
·Surrealism - It explores the subconscious mind, with subject matters concentrating on dream-images and often aims to distort the ordinary and what we call reality
Surrealism defies logic. Dreams and the workings of the subconscious mind inspire surrealistic art (French for "super-realism") filled with strange images and bizarre juxtapositions.
·Dream-like scenes and symbolic images
·Unexpected, illogical juxtapositions

·How to Create 'Surrealism' artworks?
1. Capture a dream, sketch It out. Draw your vision out roughly. Don't put any details yet, but just lay out key points of your vision.
2. Find Reference Images & gather images that directly relate to what you have in mind.
Surrealism is best when it's convincing enough that it could be real, however we obviously know that the subject matter you are creating is nonexistent, thus is not real.
1.We are required to create a poster design composition using elements of photography, typography and vector graphics.
2.Photography is from DPI.
3.Typography and vector graphics is from IVN.
Note: Please make sure to consult our ideas before go through the poster development.
4.Update our Project 2B work in progress into E-Portfolio
Week 8 Research about your topic:
Quotes of the day: "Impossible is I am possible"
Design Concept Summary:
This quote of the day encouraged and supported me during my lowest moments. I believe that nothing is truly impossible except for birth, aging, illness, and death. Inspired by this, I want to design the word "impossible" with a small figure hanging below it, about to fall. The figure has wings growing on its back, symbolizing a transformation like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly and showing that everything has its moment of possibility.
Week 9 Define your concept:
Fig 9.2.1 Physical sketch
This is a photo I took at school for my poster.

Then, I came across this image online, which gave me a lot of inspiration.

Fig 9.2.9 First version of poster
Next, I sent the first version of the poster to Mr. Hafiz Zamri, and he suggested that I try rearranging the words into different layers. For example, he said the word 'possible' could appear coming out from under the butterfly wings, and the word 'Is' could be in uppercase and bold, positioned just behind the semi-broken cocoon.
Based on Mr. Hafiz Zamri's suggestions and feeling that the colors in the first version of the poster were not vibrant enough to highlight the theme, I made some adjustments.

SUMMARY:
I took the background of this picture at school, and the quote of the day is "Impossible is I am possible" to express that everyone is a butterfly, but some of us may not have completely broken the cocoon yet, and everyone has infinite possibilities.
