Lecture 7- Colour Theory
-Colour Theory
It's the science and art of using colour. It explains how humans perceive color; and the messages colours communicate artistically and emotionally.

-Hue, shade, tint and tone
·Hue: Hue is the most basic of color terms and denotes an object’s color.
·Shade: Shade is a hue to which black has been added. For example, red + black = burgundy.
·Tint: Tint is a hue to which white has been added. For example, red + white =
pink.
·Tone: Tone is a color to which black and white (or grey) have been added.

-Colour Harmony
The arrangement of the colors in design in the most attractive and
effective way for users’ perception.
Fig 7.1.5
·Monochromatic: variations of 1 colour. It can create the
distasteful colour scheme.
·Analogous: 3 colours located right next to each other on the
colour wheel.
·Complementary: colours that are opposites on the colour wheel. It
aims to produce high contrast and make image pops out.
·Split-Complementary: using 3 colours. Start with one colour, find
its complement and then use the two colours on either side of it.
·Triadic: colours that are evenly spaced around the colour wheel
and are bright and dynamic (creates visual contrast).
-The Psychology of Color
Colors have an extraordinary ability to provoke specific emotions for each
individual and to attract people’s attention and harmony

-Warm V.S Cool
Warm colours: Warm colors can make people feel happy and attract more
attention, and are often used in warning signs.
Cool colours: Cool colors are calmer and can be used to express sadness.
Purple can stimulate creativity.
Black: Black is rarely used, but works well as a primary color element.
Black gives a feeling of sophistication, elegance and mystery.
White: White is the primary color, giving people a clean, virtuous and
healthy feeling. White is a great secondary color and goes with almost any
color.

-Week 7:
This week, I learned how to create double exposure effects in Photoshop. It was a bit challenging, but also very interesting. I need to practice more to create a wider variety of designs. I also hope to find more resources on double exposure to keep improving.
